UA Miniresidencies: Ruka Toivonen & Stina Aletta Aikio

During their UA Miniresidency, Ruka Toivonen and Stina Aletta Aikio have been exploring rope bondage as a realm of negotiation, play, hedonism, and holding one another. Their public event is a live session without planned choreography.

 

When: 27 November 2025 from 18:30 onwards (18:30 doors; 19:00 performance; 20:00 mix & mingle)

Limited space and seats indoors. The performance is also visible from the street. We ask you to respect the sensitive soundscape during the live session but you are free to come and go as you like.

Ruka Toivonen is a Helsinki-based activist and writer. Their writings onecology, body as archive, and disappearing are currently marked by apersisting charm of ghosts. Ruka goes by the name Roo in feminist and queer friendly shibari spaces. Known for their passion for bottom-up ways of knowing, Roo has taught and performed at international rope events in Helsinki, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, and Berlin.

Stina Aletta Aikio is a Deatnu Sámi experimental artist, activist, writer and doctoral researcher. Their work focuses on the tensions in societies and questions of justice, as well as Sámi ontologies and futurities. They have also worked actively in Sámi activism and especially with the Nordic queer Sámi movement.
